Georgia O'Keeffe
Georgia O'Keeffe was born November 15th, 1887 in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Her parents names were Francis Calyxtus O'Keeffe and Ida O'Keeffe. She was one 7 children, but the first girl in her family. By the age of 10 she knew she wanted to become an artist. She studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1908, she decided beging an artist wouldn't work out so she settled for taking a job as commerical artist, but in 1912 she was inspired to become an artist after being introduced to innovative ideas of Authur Wesley Dow.
Georgia O'Keeffe was an American artist. She was a representional and abstract artist. She was inspired by landscapes of New York. A lot of her paintings were of flowers and animal skulls. She was also known for her close up drawings. During her long years as being an artist, she did her works on canvas, masonite panel and paper. In her later years she started using pencil and watercolors.
Georgia moved to Sante Fe, New Mexico in 1984 and 2 years lated she died. She lived to be 98 years old. She was cremated and her ashes were spread over Pedernal Mountain. She was a great American Artist and her art will live on.
